SYSTEM MOST Survey: This survey was not collected and analyzed by MOST this year as anticipated, however the LLC program did administer both a pre and post at each site. Results were lower than anticipated. However, the benchmark of 50% was likely not attainable. The other issue that the program staff encountered was that student turn-over and absences limit the number of pre/post tests at each site significantly. This caused the number of pre/post surveys available for comparison to be quite low. At both FES and CRMS an equal or greater number of students demonstrated no change in their feelings of engagement with science, which meant that if they already had high engagement (which was the case at FES in particular) then there was no need for an increase. Only at LMS was there a significant number who demonstrated a decreased interest/engagement in science after the program.
UC Irvine Survey – The report on the results of this survey are based only on students who attended at least 30 program days AND who were enrolled for both the pre and post survey completions.
Chronic Absenteeism – Chronic absenteeism is not a large issue for Caroline County as a whole. However, chronic absenteeism actually increased among students enrolled in the afterschool program. In 2014-15, only CRMS had a student who was absent more than 20 days. In comparison, in 2015-16, CRMS and LMS programs both had 7 students who missed 20+ days of school and FES had 3 students who missed more than 20 days. In comparison school-wide the number of students who were chronically absent as well
