Perryville Outreach Program (Cecil County FY16) Annual

Story Behind the Curve

It is hard to predict the number of juvenile offenders who will be referred to the program in a given year. This number is low because referrals from the Perryville Police Department are low. This also directly impacts the number of individual counseling sessions given.

Parent participation is often low, and the vendor will plan some events in the second half of the year to increase participation.

It is often difficult to engage parent participation, even when a child has been referred as a method of diverting them from the juvenile justice system. In the future, staff members can execute reminder phone calls, and perhaps offer small incentives for participation.

This is a new measure this year, and fewer children are participating than desired. The program will work on incentivizing participation.

The count ‘starts over’ at the beginning of each new fiscal year, i.e., July 1.

No mid-year report was required for FY16.
