Program Summary
Mentoring program that provides trained volunteers to serve as mentors to students in a number of school and/or community-based locations. The mentors are matched with students who can benefit from a regular, weekly one-to-one session with and encouraging dependable adult. Mentors assist with school assignments and building academic skills while also promote learning, growth, and success through the relationship with the goal of improving academic achievement, school attendance, behavior and social skills.
Target Population
Elementary and middle school students identified as being
at-risk of academic failure by school system personnel.
Data Discussion
This program was a recently new in the process of developing methods of measuring their program internally and externally. The program did not collect the data due to needing the means to collect the data. They were only requested to report certain data. Some of the data that were intending to collect, they were not able to collect the data due to school staff not providing data to them.
