Description: The percentage of unintentional poisoning due to medication/drug overdose that are attributed to opiates.
Calculation: The number of unintentional deaths attributed to opiates divided by the total number of unintential deaths due to medication/drug overdose mulitplied by 100.
For example: In 2010 there were 19 unintentional deaths due to medication/drug overdose and 14 unintential deaths attributable to opiates. (14/19)*100 = 73.68%
Notes: These figures are counts of deaths and may not be comparable to counties or regions with different populations sizes.
