Story Behind the Curve

Students served by Project YES often come from unstable home environments. Due to this factor, students often transfer schools throughout the school year.  This would impact a Project YES Coordinator’s data/numbers. Additionally, referrals for the program are accepted throughout the year, creating a new caseload periodically.

Data Discussion

Project YES Coordinators met to review data, during this time, they counted the number of students who had been on their caseload throughout the year and generated the list of those students. The Coordinators uses the student management system to review each students attendance and grades to determine if over a period of time the attendance or grades improved. A zero, plus or minus was listed behind each student’s name to indicate trends in attendance (+more days absent, -less days absent, 0 – no change) from marking period to marking period. The same codes were used in front of each name to indicate changes in grades during the same time periods.
