Story Behind the Curve

The provider served a total of 18 new youth in the Life Skills program. As a result, 26% of the total 70 served participated in the Life Skills program. Looking at HFY1 19, the provider served a total of 9 youth participants. According to the provider, all nine youth participants in the Life Skills program for HFY1 19 completed their Life Skills Workshops. That is a total of 100% completion rate. Secondly, in HFY2 19, the provider served a total of 9 youth who participated in the Life Skills workshops. As a result, 9 out of 9 total of youth completed their Life Skills workshops. At the end of FY19, a total of 19  youth completed their Life Skills program.       

Greenbelt CARES Disconnected Youth Program does not mandate youth to participate in the Life Skills Program. According to the Greenbelt CARES, some of these youth already acquire these skills, i.e., Budgeting, Opening Bank Accounts, Savings, Percentage and Interest Rates, and Debit vs Credit Cards. The Life Skills Program is a volunteer program; as a result, recruited youth show low participation level under this program.
