Partners
In 2017, the program has reported strengthened relationships with partners like Hillside, Eleanor Roosevelt
High School, Laurel High School, and The Chelsea School who all provide
consistent teen volunteers. They have also began to work with other community
partners such as Ebenezer AME Church and Community of Hope AME church to
provide teen volunteers. Additional programs include the Latin American Youth
Center and Boys to Bowties to refer respondents to for additional services post
successful completion.
Program Summary
Teen Court is a justice program managed by teens for teens with appropriate levels of supervision and oversight. It is an alternative justice system that offers teenage offenders an important opportunity to learn from their mistakes without acquiring a criminal record.
Target Population
First time juvenile offenders & juvenile offenders with non-violent offenses referred through DJS or local law enforcement.
