Challenges: For the FY18 CQI- Kinship Care had trouble meeting the following performance measures for “How Much” # of Families served # of children served However, Kinship Care met their “Better off” performance measures for FY18. |
Furthermore, the LMB recommended lowering the target number for Kinship Care so that they would no longer have trouble meeting their target number.
Successes:
Target families – The Kinship Care Program met the yearly target of 96 families for FY18
Reported for abuse/neglect – 100% of caregivers have not been reported for abuse/neglect during this service-delivery period.

Program Summary
Supportive services for caregivers of relative children
whose biological parents are unwilling or unable to care for them.
• The Kinship Care program, operated through Progressive Life Center, Inc., is designed to provide counseling and supportive services to families such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers caring for relative children
• Program goals are to Provide emotional support to families; Help develop a sense of independence; Prevent out of home placement; and Encourage Family unity.
• The program offers regular weekly visits with an assigned case manager; spiritually and culturally focused case management; care giver support groups; youth and family recreational, educational, cultural activities; respite care and support; mental health services, goal setting with families, community referrals, and parenting classes.
