Program Summary
Youth Services Bureaus (YSBs) are community-based, multi-service prevention programs serving youth and their families. The youth served are those who are at risk of becoming delinquent because of their behaviors and circumstance and youth who have committed minor delinquencies. YSBs work to ameliorate conditions that breed delinquency, youth suicide, drug and alcohol abuse and family disruption. Each YSB functions as an advocate of the needs of youth and families.
Core services include Formal Counseling (long-term), Informal
Counseling (short-term), Crisis Intervention, Substance Abuse Assessments, and
Information and Referral services
In addition to the required core services, Youth Services
Bureaus, in accordance with particular community needs, may also provide
tutoring, alternative leisure activities, employment assistance, community
education, including training and information related to youth suicide and
prevention and other specialized services.
Target Population
Youth & their families at risk or involved
in delinquency, family disruption, school failure & other self-destructive
behaviors residing in the Greenbelt & surrounding areas.
