Growing Food Matters (Calvert County FY19 and Beyond) (Annual)

Partnerships

Farming 4 Hunger (F4H) and Calvert County Public Schools (CCPS) have partnered to provide this program to students during the school day. Students at the 3 title I Elementary Schools in Calvert County: Calvert Elementary, St.Leonard Elementary and the Patuxent Appeal Campus will receive services managed by the program coordinator. CCPS have trained teachers to use the Tower Garden and Curriulum and will provide Technical Assitance as needed from F4H staff and professional Farmers. The University of Maryland Extenstion Office will provide nutrition education and cooking classes to students and thier families. 

Program Summary

This program will employ a two-generational Farm to table program incorpoarating Tower Gardens and the accompanying curricululm, nutrition education, cooking insturction and supplemental food. 

Target Population

FARMs eligible students at Title 1 Elementary Schools (Calvert Elementary, St.Leonard Elementary, Patuxent Appeal Campus).

Data Discussion

This was a 6 month pilot program. Farming 4 Hunger received full non-county agency funding for thier program in FY20.
