The State of CT has 71 full time and part time health departments.
Mass Dispensing Areas
The State of CT is divided into 41 Mass Dispensing Areas, or MDAs.The composition of the MDAs varies throughout the state, they are designated by population.The more densely populated areas of the state may serve as a single MDA, whereas in more rural areas the MDA may be comprised of several health departments or districts.The MCM plans are written at the MDA level and MCM dispensing is ultimately the responsibility of the MDA.
How We Impact
The process requires several days of preparation, involving a thorough review of the MCM ORR self-assessment and documentation provided by the MDA. The MCM ORR site visit allows DPH reviewers to clarify, request additional documentation and determine the operational readiness assessment that will be provided to CDC as per grant requirements. A site visit report is developed based on this review including strengths, weaknesses, and a plan for technical assistance to be provided by OPHPR staff. The MCM ORR process helps identify gaps in medical countermeasure dispensing planning and exercises occurring throughout the state.
