What We Do

Specific to this dashboard, the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) resides within the Department of Public Health and is the lead agency for EMS in Connecticut. OEMS is tasked by statute with providing public education and information programs; EMS system planning; regional council oversight, and EMS provider training along with oversight of licensure and certification of EMS providers.

Who We Serve

OEMS ultimately services the citizens of the State of Connecticut by providing oversight of and guidance to EMS personnel that provide out-of-hospital acute patient care and transport to definitive care, to patients with illnesses and/or injuries. Connecticut’s EMS system is integrated with other services and systems intended to maintain and enhance the community’s health and safety.

How We Impact

OEMS Education and Training unit provides guidance and regulatory oversight to Connecticut community based emergency medical services (EMS) system with the intent to reduce untimely death and/or disability from illness and injury through the coordination of local and regional EMS resources.
